A lot of people right now want to do something to fight the hate and prejudice that seem suddenly rampant, but they don’t know what to do. I find it alarming that in a free and democratic society, this knowledge is not more widely disseminated. We’ve gotten so used to not having to change anything, that we’ve forgotten how one goes about changing things. My grandma’s imagination/childlike sense of wonder. She always used to find magic in everyday things—streams were babbling brooks, and wild flowers were fairy rings—and I hope to always be able to find magic, too.
